The Flaming Lips

Thinking about covering a Flaming Lips song. Not in a "hey, let's record this up all proper" but in more of a "let's put on the camera and post up a quick live version"- YEAH, this is a lot better. Not only is it a stress reliever but I need to have content on this site after all so it may as well be live performance videos. Well, I can't do it now because this place is a virtual pigsty but coming up (no I swear really) live videos will be a normal feature on my low rent site.

What I am listening to right now- Jungle Habits by Young Circles

Check out Young Circles, a Florida based bands on the fringes of alternatives sounds in the Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Spiders, Royal Bangs flavor- so far I am undecided on how much I like them but I DO like them--

Lo- Fi Genre

I for one do not get all that hung up on sound quality when I listen to new music. I definitely desire to hear the highest quality there is in fact there is nothing more exciting than hearing a song that is well produced and well recorded but it is not the end all when it comes to the music listening experience. I guess what I am trying to say is that I would rather hear a bad recording of great music than a super high end recording of music that does not interest me. The recording process is only a tool but the creative edge is what interests me the most about new music. You can always pretty up a well written song but you can produce the hell out of a crappy song and it will still be a crappy ass song. Maybe it will be a shiny- glossy version but crap is crap.

So all you artists out there who do not release your music because you do not have the funds to record your song properly... GO release them anyway. Even if you have to record them live on the cheap on a portable digital recorder or old tape deck. Just do it. In the end it will be worth it.
